4th International Post-Tuberculosis Symposium 2027
On behalf of the Symposium Steering Committee, we invite you to join us in Seoul, Republic of Korea for the 4th iPTBS!
12 - 15 April 2027
Hoam Faculty House (Samsung Convention Center)
Seoul National University
Despite completion of TB treatment, TB survivors continue to face significant long-term health challenges. Post-TB lung disease affects up to 90 million people globally, but complications extend beyond the lungs and include increased risks of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and poor mental health. Currently, there are no proven interventions to prevent or reduce these post-TB complications.
The International Post-Tuberculosis Symposium will bring together nearly 300 global experts, clinicians, researchers, TB survivors, and stakeholders to advance understanding and improve care for people affected by post-TB sequelae.
Over four days, participants will explore the latest research, identify gaps in diagnosis and treatment, and participate in interactive multidisciplinary workshops to establish priorities and develop practical solutions for TB survivors, healthcare providers, and health systems.

Design Labs
Symposium delegates will have the opportunity to shape the future of post-TB care in daily, interactive Design Labs. By uniting scientific expertise with advocacy and lived experiences, these small-group sessions will focus on building practical solutions to challenges facing the post-TB community. You will work alongside global peers to turn collective insights into actionable strategies that elevate survivor well-being.
Proposed Design Lab Modules, their goals, and the concrete outputs that would come from these Design Labs, are described
here:
● End-of-Treatment Morbidity Assessment Tool
Brief description: To develop a pragmatic, feasible end-of-treatment morbidity assessment tool/indicator set that could be used in 5-minutes or less in TB facilities and by NTPs globally.
Output: Draft tool to assess morbidity at the end of TB treatment
● Post-TB Educational Pamphlets
Brief description: To develop 3 sets of post-TB pamphlets with educational/awareness material for (1) survivors, (2) clinicians, program staff, (3) community, stakeholders addressing what we think each group should know about post-TB sequelae and life, including how to reduce stigma.
Output: 3 pamphlets/infographics
● Setting Advocacy Priorities for Post-TB
Brief description: To co-create an actionable roadmap with key advocacy priorities at local, national, and global levels.
Output: Brief with key advocacy priorities
● “TB and Me”: Survivor Experiences
Brief description: To capture and describe the most important concerns, fears, and anxieties about the lived experience of TB at TB diagnosis, end-of-treatment, and post-TB.
Output: Document/infographic highlighting TB survivor stories
● Post-TB Core Outcome Set for Trials
Brief description: To develop a process and methodology for establishing a core outcome set for PTLD intervention trials covering physiological, functional, structural, and patient-reported endpoints.
Output: Roadmap and short-list for a PTLD core outcome set
● Treatable Traits for Providers
Brief description: Building upon work from the last symposium, identify clinically relevant Treatable Traits that can be managed by TB and primary health care providers.
Output: Infographic/PDF for use in clinical settings
● Translating Biomarkers for Prediction and Host-Directed Therapies
Brief description: To explore how the biological pathways that persist after TB treatment can be translated into biomarkers, host-directed therapies, and more targeted post-TB care.
Output: Roadmap with prioritized biological pathways for monitoring in clinical studies and trials
